Coaching & Therapy

When your mind never seems to switch off,

but you long for more calm and a sense of direction.

You think a lot. You worry, doubt yourself, put things off, or find yourself wondering what other people think of you.

You try to work things out by thinking things through even more. But sometimes, the more you analyse, the further away you seem to get from what really matters to you. Perhaps you are someone who thinks deeply, takes responsibility and wants to do things well. From the outside, everything may look fine. But inside, you notice that you are getting stuck more and more often.

Stuck in your head.

I overthink and analyse everything

Perhaps you:

  • worry a lot or find it difficult to switch off your thoughts
  • tend to be perfectionistic
  • find uncertainty difficult
  • put a lot of pressure on yourself

You may have become so used to thinking, analysing and trying to find the right answer that it is difficult to simply trust yourself.

I don't know which direction is right for me

Perhaps you:

  • study and wonder what next
  • started your working life and feel unsure about your choices
  • wonder what you actually want

Sometimes you can know that something needs to change without knowing exactly what that change should be.

I've lost touch with myself

with all changes

Perhaps you:

  • go through a new phase of life
  • experience changes in work
  • changes in friends/family/relation
  • changes in your body

What do I really want? What matters to me? Thinking harder often doesnot help.

Maybe, you need to make space to listen to yourself again.

Sylvia van Nierop Coach and therapeut in ACT

I'm Sylvia van Nierop, an ACT therapist and coach. I support people who feel stuck in their thoughts, are struggling with uncertainty or have lost their sense of direction. My aim is to help you find your way back to yourself.

What I value most in my work is creating a space where you don't have to pretend that everything is fine. A space where you can be curious about yourself, without judgement.

My practice is called Thuisreis.

The word thuisreis literally means something like “journey home”. I chose this name because I believe that therapy can be a journey towards feeling more at home with yourself.

You don't have to become someone else. You can learn to make room for everything that is part of you, discover what matters to you and find your own way forward.

The sessions helped me understand myself and my situation much better, which has made it easier to deal with life

It gave me  new way to think about existing problems. It helped tot talk about things I struggle with and that helped facing new problems.

Sylvia has a warm personality and makes you feel that you can truly be yourself. She helped me gain insight into patterns I had been stuck in for years. She guided me through the process with thoughtful questions and creative exercises.

How can ACT help?

I work with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based form of behavioural therapy. ACT teaches you how to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings in a different way. Instead of fighting them, avoiding them or letting them determine what you do, you learn to make room for them while choosing your own direction.

You learn to step back from your thoughts, become more aware of what is happening inside you and discover what really matters to you.

The goal isn't to feel good all the time. It's to have more freedom to live your life in a way that feels meaningful to you — even when life is difficult.

A personal approach

No two people are the same, so no two therapy or coaching journeys are exactly alike. I combine the evidence-based principles of ACT with a personal and practical approach. We look together at what is going on in your life, what you are struggling with and what you need. There is room for reflection, conversation and practical exercises. There is room to be yourself
